Cannot start toolbox - failed to get Podman version

After updating from Sericea 40.20240809.0 to 40.20240816.0 toolbox will not start. Error messages are posted below.

$ toolbox --verbose enter

I fixed this issue for me by following the suggestion here, which makes sense: Can't use toolbox anymore after update | Kinoite | Podman Toolbox - #3 by finlike

So in your case:

mkdir /var/home/md/.local/share/containers/storage/volumes

I was able to enter in my toolbox containers as normally.
