Cannot start mpv from dolphin, but works from start menu or terminal

Whenever I double click on a movie file in dolphin, this shows up in journalctl:

And nothing happens. The movie does not play.

Playing the movie from terminal works. Opening mpv from the start menu, then dragging the movie to the player works.

Have tried dnf reinstall mpv.

It appears that the command is not associated with the filetype, at least by looking at this line …

Perhaps you need to specifically tell the Plasma shell what to use for opening that filetype. Sorry, I’m not a KDE user.

I have tried Open with > Other application > mpv > Remember application association but it makes no difference

Out of curiosity, mpv is a command line tool and library for playing many video formats, correct? Do you have a GUI front end player installed that uses mpv as it’s back end? If so maybe that program selected in Dolphin as the appropriate program to open the video file can help sovle this for you.

Some bug reports suggest that this error occurs when Google Chrome is installed. If you have Google Chrome installed as a native RPM, could you try uninstalling Google Chrome and test it again?
