I have a 27" 2012 iMac which is currently running on Ubuntu-Mate and I am trying to install Fedora 36. However, I am having issues with the partitioning. My current HDD is 160GB out of which 60GB is assigned to the root partition and 100GB is assigned to the /home partition and EFI partition is around 600MB. I tried to use the existing partition, but I am getting the below error message after completing the partitioning step.
“Failed to find suitable stage1 device. Apple EFI partition cannot be of type efi.; Apple EFI boot partition cannot be of type ext4.; Apple EFI boot partition must be mounted on one of /boot/efi.; Apple EFI boot partition cannot be of type ext4.; Apple EFI boot partition must be mounted on one of /boot/efi”.
The gparted layout of my HDD is below.
As we can see, the ESP partition is already formatted as fat32, but Fedora can’t see that. To me, it appears to be a bug in Fedora installer.
Can someone help?
Thanks in advance.
