Broken desktop environment after system update

After installing recent OS updates yesterday, I’m experiencing issues where upon logging in I’m greeted by a black screen and my cursor, to get to my desktop i need to ctrl-alt-f2 to the tty line that doesn’t load either, then ctrl-alt-f1 back to desktop, which doesn’t work for about 5 minutes, it just bugs out and freezes

Is there anyway to undo a system update, I did not do the update from the terminal, I did it from the software center if that helps.

Are you running on nvidia hardware? Could we please have the output of fpaste --sysinfo --printonly please?
