Audeze Maxwell headset media keys doesn't work without keeping pavucontrol open with the pro audio profile selected

I’m encountering an issue with my Audeze Maxwell headset that I can’t figure out a proper solution for.

When I connect it through an USB-C cable or Bluetooth everything works but when I use the USB wireless dongle I can’t get the play/pause, previous, and next buttons to work properly.
Play/pause sometimes work while the previous and next buttons don’t work at all.

I used Wireshark to monitor the USB traffic and it doesn’t show anything happening when I press those buttons, but it does for volume up/down.
I also tested with sudo libinput debug-events and it’s the same result there.

However if I sudo dnf install pavucontrol, open pavucontrol, go to the Configuration tab and change the profile to Pro Audio everything works as it should as long as i keep pavucontrol open, if I close it then after some time or if I reconnect the headset they stop working again.
I’ve opened an issue with PipeWire for the Pro Audio profile requirement.

Since I haven’t been able to find a proper solution I’ve just kept pavucontrol open in the background but would appreciate some help finding a better solution than keeping pavucontrol open forever.

I’ve tested with an, as of writing, up-to-date install of Fedora Workstation 40, Fedora-Workstation-Live-x86_64-40-1.14.iso, and Fedora-Workstation-Live-osb-Rawhide-20240605.n.0.x86_64 with the same result.
I also tested on an install of Windows 10 where they work correctly.

According to your comments and the system info you are using the install version of the kernel (6.8.5) which conflicts with this statement.
I’ve tested with an, as of writing, up-to-date install of Fedora Workstation 40

If the system was up to date as of today you would have the 6.9.12 kernel and everything else would be up to date as well.

If you actually have installed fedora to the system then please perform a full update with sudo dnf upgrade then after it finishes perform a reboot. Following that then test again and let us know if there are any changes in audio.

That paragraph lists the things I’ve tried it on, the note before the fpaste output notes that it’s from the live ISO.
I tested and collected the information from the live ISO to rule out any changes made to the install.

I’ve now reinstalled using the Fedora-Workstation-Live-x86_64-40-1.14.iso ISO to ensure it’s without modifications, ran sudo dnf upgrade -y && reboot twice, connected the USB dongle and tested the media keys with the same result.
