System audio recorded by microphone

Steelseries Arctis 1 headset using with my laptop’s 3.5mm headphone jack. My laptop is a Dell G5 SE 5505 with a serial number of 1CLPC63.

Not a hardware or OS issue; headset worked fine on Arch, Debian, on my other windows computer and on my phone.

Same problem also happened before upgrading to Fedora 40

Is your input device muted? It could just be picking up sound from your system.

No it shouldn’t be. It still picks up what I’m saying, but it also records the system audio.

Are you saying that you checked the settings to see if the mic was muted, Or are you saying that you want it to be unmuted picking up all sounds?

Do you have Pulse Audio Control & Helvum ? You can have a look to see if there are audio sinks set up or maybe a misconfiguration. Those tools will help you figure out what/where the sound is being routed to.

I checked to see if the mic was muted, and I want it to not pick up my system audio.

There aren’t any sinks or misconfigurations that I can see in Helvum or Pulse Audio Control.

I tried muting the all of them except for the middle one shown in Pulse Audio Control but the system audio still came through.

I don’t think it is leaking from the actual headphones but I’ll double check on another computer, and with another pair of headphones.
