Home is great but I dearly missComputer for / and other mounts. how can i customize Places?

I am not sure how to make customizations, though surely someone may be able to assist.

However, it is very easy to either click the search icon in the upper left corner and enter the path you wish to search, or to enter that path into the path bar across the top center of the screen. That path by default is the users home directory.

Once at that point you can easily click any of the folders you choose to navigate the entire file system.

In KDE, using Dolphin, I just drag a directory into the “Places” area. Added my VM directory into Places like so:

Nothing similar on Gnome?

with gnome / nautilus you can do the same by dragging the folder/file into the lower places column and it gives an option to create a new bookmark for that item.
