X11 mouse key bindings changed

G’day. I’ve just installed F38 Gnome. I really like bspwm as a window manager, so have installed that as well. It was running fine. Everything is up to date.

Yesterday, for some reason, the mouse buttons have swapped over without me even playing with any settings - the left now does the right click, and the right does the left click. The forward and back buttons also are not working. Scroll wheel seems fine.

If I log out of bspwm (X11) and log in to Gnome (Wayland), the mouse buttons work “normally”. It’s just if I log in to bspwm. When I installed bspwm, the only thing I changed other than the bspwm, sxhkd, and polybar config files was to add “exec bspwm” in the ~/.xinitrc file. That’s the only line in that file. There is no ~/.Xmodmap file etc. I mention that becuase I’ve seen you can config mouse buttons in those 2 files. But I’ve never played with that before and never had this issue before.

The mouse is a Logitech Pro Gaming Mouse (wired) if that helps. I have installed Piper and tried to re-map the mouse buttons in that, but they don’t seem to have any effect.

Any tips or help appreciated.

I’ve narrowed the problem down to lxsessions and/or lxappearance. I’ll dig deeper on those.
