Workstation 41 - Gnome - Freezing with Black Screen and Random Reboots

Hi,

This is my third official report about this same kind of issue:

Both with Gnome

At this point I desperate enough to be inclined to believe that the issue my current hardware: Lenovo ThinkPad L380 (specs at the bottom.

As of now I am currently running: Linux dummy-host 6.13.10-200.fc41.x86_64 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Mon Apr 7 19:01:38 UTC 2025 x86_64 GNU/Linux

My problem accepting the idea that my issue is with my hardware is that I was able to “resolve” the issue by running NixOS last year for a whole six months.

Before temporarily switching to NixOS I tried Debian, Void, Solus and all of them were able to replicate this problematic behavior. The “minor solution” was to prevent the system to go suspended/hibernated.

Once I switched to NixOS that issues just went all away. Gnome was working just fine. Sadly I had to switch back to a regular FHS. So I switched back to Fedora 41 Workstation at October 2024.

Ever since that date I was having (i would say) excellent streak of weeks but ever since last month the issues is starting to become recurring in a daily basis.

I don’t know what’s exactly is the issue though. Here’s the last log of the last “sudden reboot”

can you report this to the bugzilla, try the kernel? Might also be mesa.

Graphics driver issues with suspend-resume are common on some hardware

Curious what NixOS does differently
