WIFI (Intel Wireless AC 9560) not working after update

Hello,

It has been several months that I’ve been in Fedora 32 without a single issue.

But this morning, after an update yesterday before closing my laptop, it’s impossible for me to have the wifi.

I tried to downgrade the kernel (from 5.8.9 to 5.6.6) : not okay.
I tried to remove and reinstall the iwl7260-firmware or iwl9000-firmware : not okay.

I don’t know what to do anymore. Could you help me, please ?

This is the only relevant logs I found :

Hello,

My account was on hold so I couldn’t answer before.

By still looking on the Internet, I found that one of the reason could be the “linux-firmware” package.
I checked mine, it wasn’t updated since March if I remembered well.
I still wanted to try the downgrade.
It worked.
I really don’t understand why !

But the answer to your question is :

Is this a dual boot device? In other words, do you have Windows 10 and Fedora installed on the same computer? Also, where did you get the firmware update? Was it from here: Linux* Support for Intel® Wireless Adapters ? If nothing else works, I would try booting into Windows to see if wifi works.

No dual boot.

I have the original repository of Fedora 32 for my firmware packages.

I recommend to integrate rpmfusion repositories completely. For configuration look at rpmfusion.org. There is a firmware section with a lot of appropriate firmware for different hardware(follow the instructions). On my notebooks I am using some of this firmware and now I have no more missing firmware and all my machines run friction free.

I already have these repository configured :

code
copr:copr.fedorainfracloud.org:bcotton:cherrytree
docker-ce-stable
fedora
fedora-cisco-openh264
fedora-modular
google-chrome
google-cloud-sdk
rpmfusion-free
rpmfusion-free-updates
rpmfusion-nonfree
rpmfusion-nonfree-updates
slack
teams
updates
updates-modular

You have not configured rpmfusion tainted and you should follow the manual configuration of rpmfusion carefully, especially the section about firmware. Good luck.

Does WIFI not work with a live USB either?

FYI
see my post here

My wifi adapter

In Windows 10 Pro there is a “reset network” function which help solved my issue
Today I had to do it again. Maybe someone can post the Fedora / Linux equivalent…

It happens now twice … Is there a defect with the firmware ???
The only difference during the weekend I worked with KVM guests Windows 10 pro & Windows 7 pro and the response of my home WIFI was bad. So I switched to wired… & than I could not switch back to WIFI.
Br,

Thank you, I updated the whole system (linux-firmware package included) after having confiugred rpmfusion and everything is okay after many reboots.

You are welcome. The main thing is that I could help you to be satisfied with your machine and Fedora.
