Why is an image generated by AI in the magazine marked as "Image by Ondrej Babec"?

I’ve noticed in this post that the image is seemingly AI generated, but marked as coming from the author of the article?

Is there existing guidelines at Fedora for how to handle AI generated content in Fedora Magazine? If so, is this public?

I’m worried that there might not be any rules regarding AI generated content in Fedora Magazine, but I’m hopeful that this was just a mistake.

This may be a little off topic.

Say I made an image with a camera or drawn with pencil. I’d claim the image was “created by jeffiscow” not by a “Canon T90” the tool.

I feel using Ai as a tool is no different. AI tools really don’t create anything (not yet anyway) they have to be prompted. (writing good Ai prompts seems to becoming a skill of its own)

Personality I don’t see a problem with a person saying they created something that was crafted using Ai.

So yeah idk that’s just my thoughts on it lmk what your philosophy on it is.

I completely agree.

Unfortunately, no. All we have for now is what is stated in the page footer:

… Fedora Magazine aspires to publish all content under a Creative Commons license but may not be able to do so in all cases. You are responsible for ensuring that you have the necessary permission to reuse any work on this site. …

The author of that article uploaded that image and placed his name in the caption. I’m not sure how the Fedora Magazine editors should “vet” these images. Opinions are welcome and thanks for opening the topic. :slightly_smiling_face:

I think it should (the image) have notation that it was artifically generated through the use of an AI tool. As for rules, we tend towards guidelines, and for featured images those are …

I think the people who’s copyrighted material was used to train the model might have a bit of a problem with it.
