Why don't i have fingerprint option in my settings

hey, I am using Fedora 40 on hp elite book and my laptop has a fingerprint reader but there is no option in the settings

pls help if u know anything

The fingerprint reader probably does not have an open source driver and hence is not supported out of the box.

Here is a list of all supported devices: lifprint — Supported Devices

You can use lsusb to find out what fingerprint sensor is on your laptop and see if it is supported.

If not, I think GNOME Setting automatically hides the fingerprint option.
