Upgraded from fedora 40 to fedora 41

I have a nice Dell latitude 5431. I worked on customising my terminal to have its transparency and some other small changes I cannot recall. I come from a mac so I like the pro type theme.

Anyways, I upgraded to 41 and lost all of that. I believe I read that 41 was coming with a new terminal? I can’t see the difference, and the one I am using help->about says GNOME TERMINAL Version 3.54.0 for GNOME 47

I cannot find any setting for transparency. IS this a different terminal, or new upgrade that does not have this?

I have also noticed when I close my lid, and reopen it, my computer freezes for a long time. It did not do this before.

If anyone has any comments that can help these issues please share.
Thank you

An upgrade from f40 to f41 does not ‘replace’ the terminal app. It does install the newer app that can be usually found in the activities menu with super + A and look for the icon that is

as compared to the older one that is

super + A does do anything for me

I switched over to Mate. Luckily, after a few updates my laptop seems to be running better. Too bad GNOME terminal does not have the transparency

The downstream patches with the transparency settings were removed by Commit - rpms/gnome-terminal - 4df915ea6e3906291a352c98ed5855005f7dd1de - src.fedoraproject.org

ptyxis is the newer terminal, if you updated via gnome-software there is a bug where it doesn’t get installed.

It doesn’t not have GUI settings for transparency yet, there’s a post here explaining how to set it with the command line. Use dconf to set transparency for Ptyxis

I have also noticed when I close my lid, and reopen it, my computer freezes for a long time. It did not do this before.

After this occurs you may want to take a look at journalctl --no-host --no-pager --since=-10m

Thank you for your comment
strangely enough this didn’t work for me getting the uuid, I just get nothing and dconf looks to be installed

dconf read /org/gnome/Ptyxis/default-profile-uuid

I switched to mate which has transparency and I can config what I like.

As for the hang, after a few updates it looks to have gone away for now! I am enjoying it!
