Just upgraded to branched f41, and I noticed that opening up gnome apps cause a weird window freeze thing for that window and then it takes awhile to startup. Anyone else experience this?
update: So I didn’t mention that I had greetd as my display manager before. I changed it back to gdm and the startup was slow on first load but then seemed to resolve after that so maybe it’s a display manager thing?
I know its not releated to thread but can you tell me how to download this early version of fedora 41
@deepangad, have a look on the shedule:
Fedora Linux 41 Schedule: Key
Branch Fedora Linux 41 from Rawhide Tue 2024-08-13 Tue 2024-08-13
Looks like you can use the dnf plugin to upgrade to f41 branch.
sudo dnf system-upgrade download --releasever=41
If you want to test a new installation, it is best to go over the page mirror.fedoraproject.org, click on version 41 and search on the mirror of your choice what you are looking for.
It seams that this are just daily images, not officially beta yet! The folder on the mirror is still development.
If you want to report an issue, do not forget to tell the date of the installation image:
...64-41-20240826.n.1.iso
To test F41 (branched) I created a VM where I installed F40 and fully updated it.
I then used the dnf system-upgrade plugin method to upgrade that VM to F41.
sudo dnf system-upgrade download --releasever 41
followed by
sudo dnf system-upgrade reboot
Everyone missing
sudo dnf upgrade --refresh
It says do not skip that step
I just mentioned the the line where has to be adapted … rest is all in the manual I also linked
p.s.
And I do have a bit a problem to understand why people have to repeat what others say and mention.
Looks like a competition here
Just trying to catch people who type stuff without clicking.
I did not miss that. Just stated without repeating the command.
If you have a VM you could test if you can reproduce it while using greeted again.
And or give more information about your setup. So we could turn around and come back on topic.
By the way, GDM is already the best choice with fedora workstation.
I have a really low resource $100 computer, so dunno if performance will be determinable but I’ll give it a try later
