F41 How do you open Terminal in full screen mode (not 132 * 43) correctly without menu overlay

Just upgraded to Fedora 41. When I open Terminal in full screen mode there remains a menu overlaying part of the full screen window. Might be that I am using an obsolete component in that there is XTerm which is in black on white too glaring.

Might be a Lenovo specific problem. Might be a how-to user error.

Are you using the Workstation Edition of Fedora? If yes, did you see that the default terminal is Ptyxis now?

This app has a option to set “Restore Window Size”. You might have a look to see if there is a setting causing this issue you mention.

Hamburger-menu > Preferences, Behavior > “Restore Window Size”

You might also give us the information if you still use x-org or wayland. inxi -Fzxx would give you this infos.

I’m using gnome-terminal-3.54.0-1.fc41.x86_64. I upgraded from f39 to f41 using the GUI Software app. I will look into Terminal alternatives per your info. Thanks ever so much for your help.

I think I’m hitting the same issue as the OP here, but - I dont think it’s related to just my terminal. I have an app-switcher menu at the bottom of my screen that overlaps with the bottom few rows of pixels of any app that I have open. It overlaps both my browser and my terminal.

It is only majorly problematic with my terminal, because it obscures the prompt at the bottom where I’m actually typing the next command. (As a workaround, I start tmux which provides a little buffer for me at the bottom of the terminal output.)

Do you start via the menu or F11? GNOME Terminal works better if you start using F11. The new app Ptyxis I have put on my menu but not much used as yet.
