Totem video player half black screen on DVD

Had some “getattr” selinux warning too, don’t understand that. Before upgrade to fc37 everything normal playing DVD movies. Reïnstalled all gstreamerplugins too, so what could this be?

What video card and drivers are you using?

It seems from your post that you may have upgraded from F36 to F37 then noted the problem.

Have you done sudo dnf upgrade --refresh or sudo dnf distro-sync --refresh, then rebooted since performing the version upgrade?

What additional AV packages are installed beyond those provided directly from fedora?

It seems something is not totally in sync with the software, whether it is video or GPU I cannot tell yet.

Yes, I’ve done that when upgrading to fc37.

VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Navi 10 [Radeon RX 5600 OEM/5600 XT / 5700/5700 XT] (rev ca) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])

In the last week I have received an update to firmware.
Please try sudo dnf upgrade --refresh and see if it gives you an update to

# dnf list installed amd*firmware* linux-firmware
Installed Packages
amd-gpu-firmware.noarch 20221214-145.fc37 @updates
linux-firmware.noarch 20221214-145.fc37 @updates

AFAIK the RX 5600 should be fully supported by the amdgpu driver and the current firmware.

It also may be that some selinux bits are interfering so running sudo restorecon -R / followed by a reboot and/or sudo setenforce 0 (which sets selinux to permissive for the current session only) may assist as well.

You may want to try downgrading mesa if it’s the same issue as here:

Problem solved itself a few updates later…
