Super Key + L not locking screen on GNOME 48

Hello - I’m not able to get the usual Super + L to lock my computer on GNOME 48/Fedora 42. I’ve tried rebooting and making sure my settings were correct, but it won’t do anything at all. On KDE I had set the lock screen command as Super + Z (just because Z is right above my Super key), so I tried changing it to that, but no go. Am I missing something?

In the “Settngs” >> “Keyboard Shortcuts” >> “System” > “Lock Screen”

Click on the pen and redefine it new.

Close Settings and test it. I did not have a problem with that.

thanks for the response! unfortunately it didn’t work, though

What keyboard Layout and Language are you using?

Is the language and Layout compatible with your keyboard. Are there no dead keys?

I use the key with the “window” on it to reconfigure!

p.s.
could it be that you have Win & z already used for an other shortcut?

Well I have a Logitech keyboard that’s in a Mac layout (got it for work and use it on both computers). The only change I’ve made is swapping out the ctrl key for the cmd key, for ergonomics. My Super key is the Start key, which would be the Windows key on a PC. That key does its other functions as normal, but just won’t lock the screen with the L key.
Oh, and I’m using an English(US) keyboard.
No, I did think about that, but it doesn’t work either  Hoping I don’t have to do a complete reinstall lol.

No, that is just configuration. This will work when you find out the quirks

I think the issue is there. Do you use the Ctrl or the Win key to make the shortcut?

It is the small “l” in my case.

Beside the shortcut in the settings it has a icon to click to reset to the default for the specific key. Try this and see what shortcut it shows you as default.

I hope so  But I also have something weird happening with the terminal. I don’t know if it’s all part of the same problem or not. I’m going to keep digging and see if I can resolve it.

does
dbus-send --type=method_call --dest=org.gnome.ScreenSaver /org/gnome/ScreenSaver org.gnome.ScreenSaver.Lock

work or provide any failure information?

edit: fixed command .. thanks

Copy and paste gives me an error:

Object path was not valid: ' '

As a one liner without the backslash it loks my screen on F41.

dbus-send --type=method_call --dest=org.gnome.ScreenSaver /org/gnome/ScreenSaver org.gnome.ScreenSaver.Lock
