hello , i reinstall fedora 39 3 days ago , and now when my computer go to sleep , at wake up after the logging page all the apps which were open are gone.
Would love to find them back at wake up
Resuming from suspend shouldn’t close the open apps. At least it is working for me on F40.
Did you by any chance check the output of gsettings get org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power sleep-inactive-ac-type
?
While at it, please also check the output of gsettings get org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power sleep-inactive-battery-type
.
Slight chances that they are set to 'logout'
instead of 'suspend'
.
thanks for your concern , here are the result of the 2 CLI
luc@fedora39:~$ gsettings get org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power sleep-inactive-ac-type
'nothing'
luc@fedora39:~$ gsettings get org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power sleep-inactive-battery-type
'suspend'
OK. Set the value of the first key to ‘suspend’, by running:
gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power sleep-inactive-ac-type 'nothing'
Is there any change?
sorry but how do i do that ? nano thing ?
Just as you did with the previous commands. Run it as regular user in the terminal.
i’m sorry but got small knowledge in command line, should i type :
gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power sleep-inactive-ac-type ‘suspend’
luc@fedora39:~$ gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power sleep-inactive-ac-type ‘suspend’
The provided value is outside of the valid range
sorry if i do stupid thing
The simple quotes might have been converted at copy-pasting. Try putting ‘suspend’
between simple quotes.
It works with ’ ’ , what i faced also at after waking up was a lost of internet connection with chromium browser
will check if it works now
i left my pc for almost 15mn it seems to work as it should , will try one more time later on, but now i need to work with it> I’ll let you know , thanks a lot
left it a 2nd time for 20 mn seems to work ok , thanks a lot
Happy to hear it worked.
it was too easy . Let my computer asleep for one hour this morning and at wake up again pb> I found out at log window as i’m using a imac aluminium keyboard with numeric pad and at the login window numeric pad wasn’t active same when i start my computer . When waking up normaly , numeric pad is already active, than no more app open and no internet ethernet connection as i don’t have wifi on this pc
Are you sure you are still logged in when you wake up the mac, and have not been logged out?
look like i’ve been log out which is strange
Added gnome, suspend-resume
Please provide the system log entries from the time you left the computer unattended this morning. You can run the command journalctl --no-host -S '2024-07-30 08:00:00'
and replace the time with the actual time before leaving the computer.
In case the output is too long to post it here, run journalctl --no-host -S '2024-07-30 08:00:00' | fpaste --raw-url
and post here the generated link.
It’s also not clear whether you’re using a laptop or desktop. Please post also the output from inxi -Fzxx
.
