Shift from windows to Fedora Linux

Hi, Dear Community.
I am a blogger, and I have many websites on WordPress and Shopify, like this one:

And I want to use Fedora Linux instead of Windows. I am bored of Windows (especially with their latest Windows 11 update).
I have a simple question, as I do my work with websites, am I able to continue this in a simple way as I was doing with windows?
Is there any complexity to use this OS?
I’ll be thankful to you.

Do run any special apps on Windows that you need linux replacements for?
Or everything web based?

If you choose to use a default installation then it should not be complex.
There will be things that you will need to learn about, but its not complex and we can help.

I use web browsers like Chrome, edge, and firefox.
So, mostly the work is web related.
Plus, I also use some SEO tools like screening frog etc.
And, what about browser extensions?

Welcome to Fedora @itsumairiqbal

It can indeed be a problem when something not will work as expected. But to avoid this, you could shift slowly while testing Fedora while still using Windows11. The easiest way to do this is to install VirtualBox and install fedora there.

If you have problems you can make researches in the internet and ask here. But you are still able to do your tasks as used and test Fedora if you can do the same with it.

As I know, you can have all browsers you use now also on Fedora Linux. Just test it on the go.

Browser extensions are platform independent, so you won’t have any problems there.

This appears to be a commercial program, they do offer a Fedora package so i think you can safely assume this will work.

You can start with a dual-boot installation of Fedora next to Windows, then you can switch between both and see which one you prefer. You can also try a virtual machine installation first like @ilikelinux mentioned.

In general for your type of usage Fedora (or linux in general) could be a nice fit, there is a rich ecosystem of open source webdevelopment tools for linux and the system as a whole is lighter, more customizable and less boxed in than Windows.

i agree, take things slowly, so if you need to do something urgently windows is still there

Added windows-transition

I wonder what hosting blogs has anything to do with Windows? such servers nearly always run Linux

so instead of that, your experience on Fedora will depend on a lot different factors, like software you run.

i also highly recommend to see if your software is available as flatpaks on flathub.org.

if it is, I recommend Fedora Kinoite, as a windows-like interface but with a lot of customizability, a lot of graphical settings and a ton of unique features.

meanwhile, the atomic desktop method makes it way more reliable.

they are not yet perfect though. unlike on Windows, updates will often not be automatic, so remember to do them manually.

also, if not all your software is available as a flatpak, there are other options like distrobox, RPM packages, binaries or appimages. we can help here if you have specific issues.
