Hello, after recent updates installed from Discovery app, whenever i unplug charger from laptop, it starts blinking blank(like turns on and off slightly and dark the completely dark, it might the amdgpu or kernel version, for any details please ask
NOTE: if i turn on the laptop unplugged, this issue wont appear, only appears if i start it plugged
RTX 3050 mobile and AMD ryzen 5600H cpu, amd igpu spec wise, kernel : 6.12.5-200.fc41.x86_64
Whenever something like that happens after updates, you should try to narrow what package update caused the problem. For the kernel, you should be able to select your previous kernel version from your boot menu. For other packages, dnf history info should list what packages were updated in the last update transaction and you should be able to “downgrade” any packages you suspect to see if it reverts the problem. Once you’ve identified the package that is responsible, you can file a bug report against it to let the devs know that there is a problem with that package.
For the kernel and its associated drivers, you should be able to select the previous kernel version from the boot menu. Unfortunately, Fedora Linux hides the boot menu by default. I think you should be able to get it to show by holding the SHIFT key while booting.
If using the previous kernel works around the problem, you might want to make that kernel version the default so you don’t have to manually select it each time you boot your system.
I have the same issue on my Lenovo Yoga 6 laptop with AMD cpu and igpu.
Thanks to folks in this thread, and the bug report thread in the link found here, I saw that switching to “Performance” power mode is a workaround.
I also discovered if you forget to put your laptop in this mode on your initial boot, when you resume from a suspend you can switch your power mode to Performance prior to entering your password.
After such a resume, you can never return to using any other power mode. It’ll do the “Blink-flicker-screenoff” sequence immediately afterwords; it doesn’t seem to matter how long it’s been since the resume happened.
Thanks also discovered this bug and you can downgrade your kernel temporarily to v6.12.4-200.fc41.x86_64 (or any version lower than 6.12.5apparently).
On Silverblue I found out v41.20241219.0 does seem to contain a working kernel. To downgrade to it follow the Fedora wiki guidelines aka essentially rpm-ostree deploy 41.20241219.0 (after potentially fetching the meta data).
i updated the freedesktop package in discovery app and it fixed it for me permanently here.
NOTE: i was wrong, the bug is partially gone, the only part that is still broken is resuming from sleep
