Raw.xz missing for atomic variants

Hello, I wanted to install Kinoite on my RPI 3 but unfortunately all atomic variants only have .iso files and not a raw raw.xz file that I can use with arm-image-installer.

I’m pretty sure there was a raw file before so is there still a way I can download a RAW file ?

Or can I otherwise use an iso file ?

I don’t remember if there were RAW Atomic Desktops images and I personally don’t know if there are any currently. However, if you are familiar with bootable containers and image-builder, you can build your own. I did this with Silverblue and installed it on a Raspberry Pi 4 using instructions from the Fedora CoreOS docs to boot.

Although I haven’t tried it, it might be possible with ISO images as well. You can try Booting via EDK2 using Separate Firmware Disk Mode. You should probably also use Raspberry Pi 3 UEFI Firmware Images instead of the ones in the Fedora CoreOS docs.

We don’t (yet) produce RAW images for aarch64 for the Atomic Desktops. You can try installing Fedora IoT and then rebasing to an Atomic Desktop of your choice.

I will try Fedora IoT to see if it’s better, but unfortunately every fedora ISO that I tried to boot had a kernel panic, like Kinoite, CoreOS and Server.

I used the Pi 3 UEFI Firmware to get live ISOs working, but there’s the same issue with using u-boot as the bootloader and CoreOS, like in the official doc for the Pi 4 (I have a Pi 3)

The issue I had was something like

ufs unable to mount root fs on unknown-block (0,0)

There are RAW images for Fedora IoT that you should be to install using https://github.com/fedora-arm/arm-image-installer/: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/iot/physical-device-setup/
