Public wifi issues

Today I was at a starbucks, and I couldnt connect my laptop running fedora 41 6.12 gnome.

When I connect to their wifi there’s usually a pop-up with starbuck’s terms and conditions to allow use of their wifi. I tried with my cellphone and after connecting to my wifi, there was no problem, they had their usual starbucks page pop up on my ohone’s browser.

For my laptop, theres nothing. no starbucks start up page or terms of condition or whatsoever. I tried unblocking all my browsers pop-up settings (brave, firefox, google chrome) and tried forgetting their wifi and reconnecting again. but no luck

Im hoping if anyone can assist me with this problem, so I know what to do next time I want to relax outside. Thank you

You are saying the captive portal page does not show up

try installing this

sudo dnf install NetworkManager-config-connectivity-fedora

here is a fun idea,
sign in on your phone.
then clone your phones MAC on your Fedora laptop. Cloning a MAC address to bypass a captive portal - Fedora Magazine

yes captive portal page. I just learned about that phrase recently. After i install that to my terminal any additional steps needed ? like on the wifi settings or terminal commands to get the captive portal page to appear ?

I do not think that you have to do any extra steps, it should help Gnome realise it is behind a captive portal so it can show the login page. I only found out about it because I did a search looking up your problem. You will have to test it and report back. Hope it works! But some advice I have tested: Starbucks does not have the best coffee!
