Problems on Dolphin and SMB3

Hi,
I run Fedora Kinoite 41 and I have some problems…
I’ve shared a folder on my Synology via SMB (maximum version 3 and minimum version 2); I can map, access and navigate through that folder flawless in Dolphin but:

  • if I try to open a pdf file, Okular and Gwenview, for example, give me an error in accessing that file… only Libreoffice works without errors.

  • if I try to open multiple videos on VLC, I receive multiple errors in opening files but if I try to open them individually, they play correctly.

Any ideas of what is happening?

Thanks

The second message says,

Communication with local password server failed

Seams that samba alias your linux not knows the Administrator user.

You should not use the administrator share to open files on your NAS. Use a dedicated user for your shares and connect with that. Verify that this user has access over SMB to you your nas.

Create a user like your linux username on the nas and use the same password as on Linux. Check that this user has access to the shares you create on the nas and then use this shares to connect.

I’ve just tried in creating a new user with full access on that share but the problem remains; actually administrator already had full access on that share in fact I am able to open several files with that user but not the ones mentioned above. Could be something related to KDE?

It would be helpful if you could translate the errors to english

Sorry, you are right! These are the same errors in english

Could it be that Okular, gwenview and VLC dont support SMB but Libreoffice does? Perhaps look at the support forums for these applications? VLC has a forum https://forum.videolan.org/

Can you just transfer files to your local machine to work with them?

Which kio packages are installed? Can you post the output of:

sudo dnf list --installed "kio*"

it works like this but it is not sustainable, having a share specifically for this purpose.

I’ve tried your command but it doesn’t work (I have Fedora Kinoite).
I tried rpm -q kio*, hoping that that command was correct for my distro (sorry I’m a newbie) but the result was no kio package.

You likely want: rpm -qa | grep kio

With that correct command, this is the output:
