Poor multimedia experience with openh264

tldr:

why fedora ditching x264 over h264 ? i cant find information in the fedora doc so i would like to clarify.

long version:

Problem

i see fedora encourage and made openh264 as default codec. from my experience some video stutter or get halted when playing and others are unplayable or just black.

Cause

i found fedora pkg h264 is obsolete (6 years old) and by itself it more heavy and slow.

Workarounds

x264 provide better support and smooth playback. for most user we need to configure rpmfusion and install x264 there. wish x264 integrated default into fedora for smooth out of the box experience.
