I am using the RCA Cambio tablet w101. I recently installed Fedora 42 replacing Windows 10.
Under Windows playing sound was no problem, neither over the built-in speaker nor over headphones.
Linux is a new world for me. Therefore I need some advice how to solve this paradoxical sound problem.
Under mixer/configuration I can see four available options to Play Hifi quality Music: One for the built-in speaker and three for headsets or headphones. When I choose the speaker then the music is played over the speaker no matter if headphones are plugged in or not.
But I cannot get any sound over the headphones which work fine with other devices. When I insert the headphone plug into the tablet’s headphone interface, then the function is paradoxical.
Under mixer/configuration I can see all three headset/headphones option shown as not available and one also as not plugged in. This is how it should be when NO headphones are plugged in.
When I remove the headphones, then I have the inverse situation: All three headset/headphones options are shown as possible choices. When I select one the music is shown as playing through the port of an allegedly plugged in but really not existing headset.
This happens both with the Pragha Playback Stream and Pipewire ALSA audacity.
What can I do to reverse the paradox?
