Online Accounts "Fedora" can't login, no TOTP option

I wanted to try this out, see what I could do through this service.

Now, I do have a Fedora account, but I use TOTP. I have the feeling that’s what causing the problem.

Also, I’m not sure what service this provides to me exactly. But I could imagine crash&bug-reports might be some what easier to make?

So I guess this question is a 2 parter:

  1. What does this service do?
  2. Login probably doesn’t work because TOTP isn’t integrated into the client.

I also have F37 and could add it without any issue.
Please check accounts.fedoraproject.org and see under settings, agreements if you have checked the “Fedora Project Contributor Agreement”.

And also you need to be at least a member of one group. With this you should be able to use the account for any fedoraproject resource. Using the credentials of accounts.fedoraproject.org.
It displays me the username like ilikelinux_at_fedoraproject_dot_org.

Sorry, i do not understand what TOTP means.
Time-based one-time password (TOTP)

I guess this would be a issue/bug report or feature request at gnome-online-accounts, since more an more authentication is based on a second factor.

I see a signed status in the contributor agreement, so I guess I did do that at the time I created the account.

Regarding the TOTP; yeah, the website does have that extra field. However, I don’t see it in the Gnome dialog.

First, I was wondering how many other people ran in to this, since I couldn’t really find anything that seemed to look like this issue.

I was thinking, “Maybe Fedora only allows a select few (devs) to login, or something”. :man_shrugging:

I’m still not sure what this account provides to my system though.

This issue report is related:

There are other issue reports regarding 2FA/OTP/TOTP for O365, google and the likes…

Okay, so it’s not just me.

Edit: I just noticed it’s already open for 1.5yr.
