No password prompt for Software

I have just installed Fedora (33 Gnome) for the first time in years. It’s brilliant, except that when I install software using Software I don’t get asked for my password. Whereas, if I use dnf, I do have to use my password.

Is this how Software normally works, or is something wrong?

It is how it usually works.

Thanks for your reply. It seems odd not to provide a password to install apps. I have to use a password to remove apps, though.

It looks like GNOME Software prefers Flatpak over RPM at least for some apps.

All the more reason to use dnf.

I’m a little concerned about the security implications of having a software center that allows install without a password as well. Is there any way to change settings somewhere to have the GNOME software center require a password?
