Today, Daylight Saving Time ends in Europe, but it won’t end in the US and Canada for another week. This often causes chaos for Fedora meetings — some stay on UTC, while others follow some local time.

DST in the US ends on the first Sunday in November, because of the candy manufacturers’ lobby insistence that more daylight = more kids out on Halloween = more sales. So this year it will end on Nov. 5.
As Rob said it’s happening on Nov 5th for us. Hopefully for the last time. (DST is such a waste of time, facts and pun intended)
I use a website called timeanddate to convert times because you can specify a day as well and it then checks for DST automatically. Time Zone Converter – Time Difference Calculator This has come in handy many times.

A nice article regarding DST and time zones. They suggest UTC+8 as the

While Arizona and Hawaii are not countries, it appears we are in the
minority considering all countries [1]. So, maybe, it works better the
other way around. All countries not observing DST shout out to us:
“Heck, what’ya doin? Don’t ya mess with da time!”
As Grampa (Simpson) shouting at the clouds, I refuse to adjust the time
on devices that don’t do it automatically. Currently, that’s only my
bedside alarm. It stays in standard time for my time zone and now runs
in sync again.
Because most people’s calendars are based on the local time zone, not UTC. Using UTC can mean a recurring meeting conflicts with my calendar 7 months a year instead of two 2-week periods.
