MuseScore 3.x not available in Fedora 39, but 4.x broke many features!

Lots of people still use MuseScore 3.6 because 4.x introduced many regressions.
Now I used to have 3.6 via RPM and 4.2 with Flatpak, that was great.
But RPM have been upgraded to musescore-4.1.1-4.fc39 (which is great) but I cannot find a way to install the previous 3.x !?

I am trying to add f38 repository, to install the last mscore-3.6.2-14.fc38.x86_64 but it does not work so far, dnf cannot find the package …
Trying to download the 3.6 rpm to install them conflict because of the fonts already installed in 4.x …

By the way it is funny that Ardour packaging is using a ardour6 ardour7 ardour8 naming. That would have been useful for MuseScore regressions, but Ardour never introduced such huge regressions as Musescore.

Yes, on a flathub I could see the oldest version is 4.0
Try, maybe it will work from an appimage:
https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/musescore/v3.6/MuseScore-3.6.0.487916429-x86_64.AppImage

from there:

What do you mean?

I manually downloaded every RPM from here mscore-3.6.2-14.fc38 | Build Info | koji
Then resolved all the conflict by removing the 4.x packages that “obsoleted” the 3.6 ones (all the fonts).
Then I was able to run MuseScore 3.6. And also to use it from the command line for some automation.

It would be nice to have an easy option to install 3.x on Fedora 39, because the 4.x regressions won´t be fixed before long

MuseScore 3 features not (yet) implemented in MuseScore 4 | MuseScore and if you Google a bit, you will find the echoes of many very upset comments.
Also, the mobile app does not support scores made in 4.x

I suggest that you raise a bugzilla ticket against musescore and ask the maintained to provide a v3 package that installs along side the v4 package.
Explain the issues you are seeing as justification. Bug tracker is https://bugzilla.redhat.com/

Will see how it goes https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2256208
I am not sure how many persons use MuseScore

I made a full reply in bugzilla, but the bottom line is that those wanting to stay on version 3 should run the appimage for now: see Release MuseScore 3.6.2 Stable · musescore/MuseScore · GitHub.

Another option is to dnf install mscore-3.6.2-14.fc38.x86_64.rmp in a distrobox container based on the registry.fedoraproject.org/fedora-toolbox:38 image.
