Hello All,
I currently have F39 (EOL), and I want to install F41 alongside.
I already burned the iso, created a new partition. If I install F41, will it see F39 and create a grub entry, or will a grub-update be required.
Thanks in advance,
Lizzy

It would not work (at least not easily).
Fedora when installed creates a pointer file /boot/efi/EFI/fedora/grub.cfg that points grub to the actual grub.cfg file located at /boot/grub2/grub.cfg. Thus if using only one efi partition it would be impossible to boot 2 different fedora installations.
Maybe you could create a second full set of partitions (including a second efi partition) then use the bios boot menus to select which OS to boot. That would be problematic itself since it would require the user to use bios to select the OS instead of simply using grub.
You should strongly consider upgrading since F39 is EoL anyway:
If necessary, use virtualization/containers for backward compatibility.
Thank you
I will upgrade at some point, but only to F41 unless I get my kde plasma 5 customizations ported over to default plasma 6 for F42.
I’m sure F42 will bring in the entire bloated kde, something I don’t want/need. Plasma currently has like 60 parts, with Arch just search plasma and pick what you want to install. Fedora doesn’t catagorize those 60 parts, but can be accomplished one by one.
I installed boxes and put F41 there, along with F42 beta.
Thank you for the replies,
