Problem
Fedora 42 live installations occasionally (around 2-3% of the time, in virtual machine testing) get stuck during the “Software installation” phase. The “Installing software” percentage stalls at some value and does not increase. So far, we do have not observed this on installs to real hardware, only to qemu/libvirt-based virtual machines with VirtIO storage. Further investigation is ongoing.

Workarounds
Doing almost anything substantial seems to ‘unstick’ the install process. Just opening the overview or system menu may not do so, but running any application, or switching to a virtual terminal, seems to. So this is easy to resolve if you know how - just launch some other application, like a terminal. After doing this, you should see the install process get unstuck and the percentage start rising again.
