Laptop with GTX 670M not working with Official Nvidia Drivers

Hello, I have followed the instructions from the RPMFusion page to install the official Nvidia drivers for this device. It is an older laptop I am gifting to my younger brother. Unfortunately it appears that the documentation for this specific card is a bit spotty now that it’s over a decade old. Version 470 of the driver does not support my 670M card as you would think seeing it’s a 600 series card, and I have to install the 390 version of the drivers to get the card to register. After installing the drivers, when trying to launch an application on the card it appears to fall back to llvmpipe. This device is old enough that it does not even support secure boot, so I know this is not the issue. Any help is appreciated.

EDIT: I switched to Xorg and it works fine, I’m assuming because I have to use an ancient driver Wayland support isn’t going to happen? Unless anyone knows a work around. WIll close if someone confirms I’m SoL on wayland and/or has a workaround

You are correct. Wayland was not supported on nvidia drivers untill after the release of the 495 driver so when using either the 470 or 390 drivers you can only use X11.
