Kinoite version ...228 (28.2.2025) freezes my OS

I installed today’s version …228, and it froze audacious and then also Resources. I am reporting here, because I found official bug system “newbie unfriendly”. I am new to Linux and Fedora Kinoite, trying to avoid terminal - sorry, I believe more non-tech people will join here, and you will see more posts like this …

I have a question. Now I am still on version …224 and system would like me to restart the computer to install updates. But when I restart it wants to login into …228 version and I need to manually choose …224.

My question now is - Kinoite has always two latest versions available to use. If I install tomorrow …301 (I made up this number by my feeling) and it turns out that it freezes also, and I have then on my computer versions …228 which I know is not good and …301 that is not yet good, how do I get back to one stable version, for example …224 (if possible without extensive use of terminal, which I am still kinda a bit afraid)? Thank you.

hey there, the apps you run are probably all flatpaks right? The system runs fine, until you open certain applications and files with those apps, then everything freezes and crashs.

This is a common issue in kernel 6.13

Thank you for explanation.

Should be ok today - seems recent kernel updates fixed the issue. I’m running Silverblue with kernel 6.13.5-200.fc41.x86_64 :slightly_smiling_face:

Yes, thanks, now works again. I hope such situations don’t occur too often …

System freezing occurs very rarely with Fedora. Fedora is quite stable. Last time I experimented it was due to Tracker-Miner but as you use Kde this shouldn’t occur (Kde uses Baloo as far as I remember).
