I’ve done an update on one of the Fedora 39 servers, and after reboot (kernel 6.8.5) my eth1 NIC changed it’s MAC, to my surprise, and this caused some problems, as I have DHCP reservation and static IP from my ISP. After reading some forums, it turned out that changes in 6.8 kernel also caused AX88179 driver to assign random MAC addresses. (related post on stack exchange for ubuntu).
So to get back to old mac and old IP, I’ve booted F39 box to previous kernel (6.7.3) to find out that is still not giving back original MAC, and I’ve tried also 6.6.4 and same problem. (it will be fixed apparently in 6.9 kernel.
So it looks as if there is something besides the kernel that is changing MAC or maybe it has been written into the ROM?
Any clues? Anyone with same problem?
