Issues with GTK4 apps, but only on Wayland?

In the last few days, I’m thinking June 4 2025 and after, I’ve been having trouble with GTK4 apps on GNOME under wayland on Fedora 42. Nautilus, Gnome settings, Gnome tweaks, Quearcode, and Fractal all at least fail to render under GNOME/Wayland. If I log back in with GNOME/Xorg, it’s fine. This might be the first Wayland problem I’ve ever had, and I’m not sure which component is at the root of the issue. I can file a Wayland bug but I wanted to see if anyone else has hit this.

Could be related to mesa. I’ve seen a few reports lately e.g. How to downgrade mesa to an specific version? and FEDORA-2025-2c707bb4ba — unspecified update for mesa — Fedora Updates System .

I’m on F42 workstation + cinnamon and Xorg and so far it’s working perfectly fine. Not a single issue to report.

That did the trick! I had been at mesa 25.0.7, and downgrading to 25.0.2 fixed it.
