Issues with desktop

When updating using the konsole in fedora it changed my entire desktop from a normal computer one to something that resembles workstation more i tried restoring from timeshift to fix it but it ended up making it more buggy and worse with not a single app not even the console working on it so on my other computer with linux mint i attempted to restore a snapshot using timeshift on mint only for it not to work due to unsupported subvolumes. Is there any way to restore the snapshots to my fedora version and fix this on my home computer instead of having to re-install the OS again?

Update: i am able to access console and timeshift again via console on desktop but every time i attempt to revert with it directly on the laptop it gives me a mounting error. ive also tried using a timeshift application on my home computer to revert it on the laptop but due to it being mint and not fedora it didnt work either, though three timeshift folders which seem to still be normal are there

Update 2: i was able to use timeshift after using sudo dnf update which restored most apps but the desktop is still workstation and my themes are gone i used timeshift to restore a older desktop version and it ended up having it show nothing but a unresponsive black screen while timeshift i think was still working.

Update 3: even after using timeshift it still has a black screen i tried some reboot methods like ctrl alt f2 and f4 but they didnt work and it just ended up booting me to the same broken workstation desktop

Update 4: after checking settings i realized that what it changed was my graphics from KDE Plasma to Wayland for some reason if anyone has info on how to change it back it would help

I do this all the time using dnf update --refresh and it’s never switched my desktop.

How did you do the update?

just with a basic sudo dnf update or upgrade restarted my computer noticed it changed some of my themes so i went to change it back and then it had the workstation desktop i tried using timeshift to revert only for it to boot up with an apple logo and a broken workstation desktop when i booted it back on

Did you install any themes in KDE?

There are some let’s say “Apple-inspired” themes for KDE that make the desktop look more similar to GNOME than to vanilla KDE.

I did but i did not install boot screens i specifically did not install them due to them locking me out of the desktop before and getting it stuck in a boot loop
