hi, I tried to translate the issue of another user (who doesn’t seem to speak English), would appreciate any advice (which I will translate back to them). Here:
I’m not sure where else to turn to with this issue. I had Fedora 38 for 3 years, my drive is encrypted with LUKS. A few days ago I accidentally wrecked the computer. The drive is linked to the hardware, so I can’t decrypt it on any other computer. I barely managed to copy some important data, and then I acted very thoughtlessly: I tried to wipe the drive while using that same drive, so I destroyed the only system which I could decrypt it from, because live mode didn’t work with LUKS (
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda
). Right away, there was an error saying something like, nowhere to write from / nothing to write to. I tried restarting. The drive isn’t visible on the motherboard (insert system disk
). Encryption is still there, because during the error, some part of the data remained untouched. I feel like I bricked my SSD. What would you advice? Is there any way to restore any data from that drive? If not, should I just format it from a live ISO using GNOME Disks, or should I do something else?
