I have an Intel Mac mini that I turned into a server using Fedora 39. I could not get the install to work for some reason and the only thing that worked was to used a custom installer made for the Mac from here:
When that went out of date and I was not able to upgrade to a new version of Fedora, I updated to the generic Fedora kernel, because my server did not need the Apple-specific extensions for Bluetooth and other components. Since then updates and upgrades have gone smoothly.
But when I upgrade, I get this error now:
dracut-install: Failed to find module ‘apple_bce’
dracut[E]: FAILED: /usr/lib/dracut/dracut-install -D /var/tmp/dracut.CGXbVZ/initramfs --kerneldir /lib/modules/6.10.10-200.fc40.x86_64/ -m hid_apple snd_seq apple_bce
dracut-install: Failed to find module ‘apple_bce’
dracut[E]: FAILED: /usr/lib/dracut/dracut-install -D /var/tmp/dracut.CGXbVZ/initramfs --kerneldir /lib/modules/6.10.10-200.fc40.x86_64/ -m hid_apple snd_seq apple_bce
The system boots fine and I don’t notice and problems.
The Google says the apple_bce module is needed for T2 sound, which I don’t care about.
It also says that this is needed for VHCI, but I can use the USB ports on the computer just fine. I have an 2 external HDs plugged into it that work great.
So, I’m thinking of just ignoring this error. Is there some way to keep kernel updates for lookingfor this module?
