HPLIP package outdated (required for HP printer/scanner support)

Hi, the hplip-common package still contains hplip 24, while version 25 was released a long time ago. V25 is necessary to support some printers and many scanners on Fedora 40+,

My printer works but the built in scanner is recognised but doesn’t connect at all. I believe this is the issue.

Could it be updated?

Strange. I’m on Silverblue and the old v24 is included. So only RPM is outdated then.

Use rpm-ostree to update hplip and hplip-gui and do not forget to also update the scanner plugin that is required to match the driver version. I think it also requires libsane-hpaio

This landed in F42 so this should be in Fedora Silverblue 42: FEDORA-2025-0e2b89d5c7 — bugfix update for hplip — Fedora Updates System
