Hello everyone,
I’m really new to Fedora and I’m looking for customization. I wonder how can I change the app icons and give them another look? Like change the “Trash” icon for example and use another image. I’m on Fedora Workstation 40 and I currently use Gnome 42.
You’ll need to install the GNOME Tweak Tool (if it isn’t already installed) and can check out different icon themes here. If you’re looking to just change a single icon, it’s a bit more involved.
Changing app icons is also different from for example the trash icon.
The trash icon requires a theme.
A single app icon is changed by modifying the desktop entry.
A theme can also change all or many app icons.
The default gnome version on fedora 40 is gnome 46.

Ok, thank you very much, I will look for some themes
Create a .icons and .themes folders in your home folder.
Install Gnome tweak tools.
Install user theme extension and enable it.
Copy the theme files in the .themes folder and icon files in the .icons folder.
Then Icons and Themes must be available in the lists in the gnome tweak app.
To get the extension, here is the place to go:
https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/19/user-themes/
Here is the result. With Delight 2 Icon theme from SethStorm666 on deviant art and Marble Red Dark theme.
