Help for Desktop Sharing needed

I setup Desktop Sharing and all is working.

but after reboot all fields regarding “Login Details” (Username, Password) are empty (!), greyed out and not editable.

grdctl status shows no credentials set …

ideas ???

P.S.

alas I can’t attach a screenshot (don’t know how) !

Why ?

===

setup was done via:

https://github.com/GNOME/gnome-remote-desktop/blob/main/docs/configuration.md

well, gdm’s user-auto-login was configured.

thereby the keyring (where the user/passwd for desktop sharing is stored) isn’t open, as with manual gdm-login.

gnome bug report from that

@sixpack13
The remote-desktop tag was appropriate even if Workstation was not.
You provided no info about the issue or your system except an inability to use remote desktop.

Are you aware that (at least on Workstation) there is an app gnome-remote-desktop installed automatically? It may be the same as the one you linked the setup for though I do not use it and cannot provide details.

A bit of searching finds the command grdctl which manages setup of grd and using man grdctl finds instructions on use.

I think this might just have been a clashing edit problem in Discourse. If the case was:

  1. sixpack posts the original post
  2. sixpack starts an edit to the original post (which didn’t have tags)
  3. I add the tags
  4. sixpacks saves the edit (which also doesn’t have tags)

…then the tags get removed without that being anyone’s intention.

If you had read the headline from the links it would have been clear. No ?

I’m using gnome-remote-desktop and I’m aware of grdctl (used it)

But not for Remote Login, only Desktop sharing.

all is fine again, found the culprit

sorry for tag clashes …
