Graphical system broken, please help!

Normal install of F38 on my laptop and got a kernel update, along with some Mesa packages and other stuff. Updated, rebooted and now my system is broken with the “Oh no! Something has gone wrong” error, even if I boot the older kernel. I can still login with tty1, but don’t know what to do. I tried to uninstall Nvidia packages, but no luck. Please help, I’m in trouble right now

Edit: fixed by swapping from mesa freeworld drivers to the regular

Ran into this today as well after a regular update, having already updated to F38. Documented in more detail here, step 1 was enough to fix it for me: Upgrade F37 to F38 with mesa-va-drivers-freeworld installed

This solves it.

It’s a real pain to see how the mesa vaapi situatuon is making Fedora much more hostile than it should be. There should be much more coordination between Fedora and RPMFusion. Especially in critical stuff such as this one.
