I’m on Fedora 44 KDE. On Firefox home page I want to create a shortcut under the search bar to link me to Google Maps in a specific location. I’ve tried different links with coordinates or with the name of the city but when I click it Google Maps opens on a different location, always the same. Maybe is the place where goes my internet connection?. What can I do to open it on my city with that shortcut? Thanks for your help!
Can you show examples of the URLs for the links you have tried?
for example " Google Maps "
If I click it from here, Google Maps opens on that location.
If I put the link in the shortcut in the homepage of Firefox, it opens in a different place.
Thanks, that’s useful detail.
When you click the link on the homepage and Google Maps opens, what URL do you see in the address bar? Is it the same one as your shortcut, or has it changed somewhere?
If I put the link in the shortcut in the homepage of Firefox, it opens with a link with different coordinates and a different place. Then the link changes itself automatically but the place remains the same.
I open with a link for a place. It opens with a different link and a different place. And then changes the link.
Can you try in Firefox on Linux? Maybe is a bug for everyone? Firefox is 158.0 (64 bit).
I would suspect either (1) something Google Maps does or (2) a browser extension.
I’m not on Fedora at the moment, but I tried in Flatpak Firefox on another Linux system, and I can’t reproduce the issue. If I put your link as a homepage shortcut, it takes me to Milan like I should.
Can you reproduce this in a fresh Firefox profile with browser extensions disabled?
I have only Bitwarden and uBlock origin. I have disabled everything, reboot Firefox, but I have the same situation.
Puzzling!
(I’m using uBlock origin too btw, so that shouldn’t be a problem.)
Let’s see if other Fedora users see this.
Thank you for your help! On win11 it goes well, I don’t know why on Linux Fedora gives me this problem.
