Firefox via dnf wont create start menu shortcut

when i install firefox using dnf or app center it wouldnt create a start menu shortcut but when i install using the appcenter but this time i chose the option where it says “from fedora flatpak” and after installing then the start menu shortcut showed up. Please help me! Thank you so much!

Which type of Fedora system do you have?

Gnome? KDE? Something else?

I have kde plasma

If you are on Fedora > 40 you should have a file named org.mozilla.firefox.desktop on /usr/share/applications (that file is part of the firefox package). Does that file exist on your system?

Also please check that you don’t have a file with the same name in ~/.local/share/applications/.

that file does exist but firefox wouldnt create a start menu shortcut

im on fedora rn and when i tried to recreate the bug that firefox wont create a shortcut now it created one when i uninstall the flatpak and reinstall the firerfox from dnf

I don’t know why it didn’t show automatically with your first attempt, but the command to tell the system to scan for new .desktop files is update-desktop-database. When you install a package, that should happen automatically.

nvm it worked but now im so confused tho :(((
