Gnome Files

Since doing an update to Fedora43 Gnome Files 49.6, a red spot with a number in keeps appearing on the icon on the Dash. It doesn’t go away. There is no explanation of what it means, no help about it in Help. Is it a dire warning that there have been 3 severe disk errors during a copy and my system is about to fail? Or just telling me that I have copied 3 files (why would I need to be told that)?
Explanation is necessary - or it might be easier just to remove it.
[edit] (It happens with Thunderbird too, in that case it makes sense as it indicates the number of unread emails.)

I originally posted this on Gnome Gitlab, here is their response:

You need to ask your distribution in your distribution’s support forum about your distribution’s custom changes to GNOME, or to find out which custom extensions you installed. GNOME does not show numbers in the Dash by default; that is third-party code.

Are you using any Gnome extensions? If so, can you turn them off one-by-one and see if the issue sticks.

Good idea, I have Dash-to-Dock. Dash-to-Dock has changed since I re-installed Fedora-43. I’ve just found that right-clicking Show-Apps shows Settings. There are many and some relate to things which might cause the rash. I’m confident that’s the answer thanks!
