Firefox not remembering window size

While Firefox remembers the screen location (center), it does not remember the size at which I closed it. Is there a way to achieve this? Firefox seems to be the only app that does this?

I renamed ~/.mozilla to ~/.mozilla.bak, starting with a fresh profile. Same behavior. Window size not remembered. Must be an issue specific to Firefox. I may hit the Mozillazine Forums and see if there is a solution.

I’ve run out of ideas to try. Uninstalled, reinstalled. Safe mode, New profile. NOTHING works. Seems nobody here has any suggestions. Same over at Mozillazine Forums. I started a thread there and zero responses.

I have the exact same issue.

I did various tests and experiments and it turns out that the same problem occurs with several other GTK3 apps. For example, Firefox, Thunderbird, and Geary all open at exactly the same window size, regardless of what the size was before closing the application. Several other GTK3 apps I’ve tested also don’t remember the window size, and the app always opens with a certain window size.

Thunderbird and Geary were affected by this problem much earlier, but Firefox was not. I’m not 100% sure, but with Firefox it happened somewhere around the version 127 update. It does not matter whether the application is installed as a Fedora native package or as a flatpak and this problem occurs only with GTK3 apps, but not with all GTK3 apps.

Unfortunately, I have no idea if this is a Fedora, GNOME or GTK issue.

The problem existed with some GTK3 applications since the Fedora 39 beta. I can’t say about earlier, because before that I didn’t use Fedora or any other Linux.

I did some more testing and found that the problem only occurs with GTK3 apps when using fractional scaling in Wayland. Without fractional scaling, affected GTK3 apps remember the window size when closed. As soon as I switched back to 125% scaling, the app windows opened at the wrong size again.

I got exactly the same problem and can confirm the cause is the scaling.
With 100% all OK, if you scale, Firefox opens for a fraction of a second with the remembered settings, but then switches quickly to something generic, undesired.
