Hi I am new to fedora I am currently using fedora 44 workstation in future if I want to updrage to newer fedora version like 45 can I upgrade through update manager or do I need to use USB flash drive for installation.

Generally this process does have a high success rate. Sometimes, there’s hiccups and they are usually discussed here at Fedora Discussion.
You do not normally need to boot a USB drive to install a new release, but it can be useful:
- to check that your hardware works with the new release before attempting the upgrade, and
- to troubleshoot if the upgrade process fails
