Fedora Setup freezes

Hello,
I’m new with Fedora and Linux in general. My problem is that I’m not able to install Fedora 32 because the setup which I’m running from an usb-drive is freezing every time when it comes to the line “Starting D-Bus System Message Bus”. Once I tried to waiting for half an hour, but nothing happened. I would be grateful for any kind of help. Thanks!

Hi,

Please provide more details about the device you are trying to install fedora on. Make and model or custom build mother & cpu etc.

Thanks Tom

It’s an Acer Aspire ES1-533 Laptop, 8 GB Ram, Intel Pentium CPU N4200 @ 1.1 GHz. I am currently running Windows 10 on it.

Hi,

try disabling secure boot in the bios.

Thanks Tom.

Hi Tom,
I forgot to mention that I already did that. I had a whole bunch of problems beforehand. My first usb-drive didn’t boot, I disabled the secure boot, tried but couldn’t change the boot mode from UEFI to Legacy, as I red this could help, but the Acer suport said, that the Legcy mode was not accessible for my laptop, and that I should be fine with UEFI. Then somehow I destroyed my usb-drive, windows does not recognize it anymore. I bought a new usb-drive and came so far with installing Fedora. Also: I was able to successfully start linux Mint from Usb-drive without giving me any problems

Another bit of information. Me beeing to impatient I tried to instal Linux Mint instead, but the installation froze two times when it was installing somthing called “grub2”. I thin some part of my hardware or so doesn’t like Linux very much xD Guess I’m stuck with windows

Hi,

Google has lots of hits with installing linux on Acer Aspire ES1-533, with varying successs; it certainly does look easy. Issues seems to be with installing the bootloader, I’m sorry but I’m not sure what to suggest.

Thanks Tom.

Thank you nonetheless!
