This is a general topic for exchanging thoughts and organizing Fedora 42 release parties in different regions. Feel free to mention if, when and where you are interested in participating in a release party of F42, or if you are even interested in organizing one.
If something specific starts to develop for any region, we can split it into a separate topic.
Feel encouraged to let us know your thoughts: just to mention that you are interested in participating in a given region can trigger more people to come together and finally to get something organized
Please note that the uk-sig tag is only added to also make the UK people aware - this topic is NOT intended for UK only (I would have added other regions, but so far UK is the only with a dedicated SIG - others hopefully follow some day : )
This is a great thread, thank you for starting it @py0xc3 ! I am interested and willing to help organise an āonlineā release party for F42, but I do think there is space for local ones too. WDTY? I was considering starting a poll for the online version to find out how people would like to attendo one. For F41 we did a fully pre-recorded screening version via a matrix room, and for F40 there was a live presentation element. I wonder which version people preferred, or if theres a way to mix the two
I enjoyed the live presentations. Would love to stage a watch party as well if we have the speakers in a single locale, we could have satellites and single participation.
Just to mention the possibility: there is also a combination possible. Not sure if that is useful, but it is generally possible that people come together physically in their regions, and maybe attend the online event jointly for some time (e.g., a ājoint global community hourā online or so) with a video projector & camera, and then also do their own local event before and/or afterwards. In the past, we had that possibility in London (rooms with video projector used to be available; although I donāt know if a cam would be available). Just a thought.
