FEDORA 41 : App Explorer : No App Data Found

Hello,

Any idea why there is no more app data listed in the explorer? Yesterday all was fine and today the list is blank.

I noticed the same with KDE Discover when I updated beta install of the KDE spin on my Surface Pro 3 earlier today. I hadn’t had a chance to see if I could pull an error message before heading back to work.

I tried all the suggestions I could find online but for older versions of Fedora

  1. sudo dnf update --refresh
  2. sudo pkcon refresh force
  3. sudo dnf distro-sync

Nothing works.

I had the same problem. (Fedora 41 - Gnome Software)

I have also tried this command:

sudo dnf reinstall gnome-software

Here’s the screenshot from KDE Discover with an error message of: “Unable to load applications. Please verify Internet connectivity”

It is able to see updates available via DNF.

I just installed the latest updates, rebooted and Discover is now loading properly.

Still no joy for me on the gnome side of things.

Just got a massive update but still no app data found on Gnome.

Disregard my last… A reboot seem to have solved the issue however, not sure if it was the update alone or the fact that immediately after seeing the update didn’t fix it (without a reboot) and trying to install KDE as per this procedure, Switching desktop environments :: Fedora Docs, is what fixed it? Not sure…

If you have gnome, try updating first and reboot, see if that works. If not, then maybe part of the packages pulled from the KDE switch fixed it? Not sure.

I have some KDE packages now, but this procedure above doesn’t work yet, I’m still “stuck” on Gnome.

Yes, unfortunately I still have the same problem.

Perhaps try what I did, see if it solves it for you (trying to switch to KDE even if it doesn’t work on FEDORA 41). I uninstalled the KDE packages (back tracked what the procedure told me to do) and rebooted and I’m in Gnome and it works. Hopefully it does for you as well.

That switching procedure is based on DNF4 and some things don’t work with DNF5… Hopefully once they really Fedora 41, perhaps this procedure will be updated and will work. I will most likely try KDE in my case.

This was my solution + a restart.
